In this role, you will join Hiab's team of experts in designing and developing digital solutions within the Digital Products domain at Hiab Services. As a Senior Software Developer you will be responsible for planning, coding and testing software solutions, which include both data-driven web applications and mobile applications. Among participating in hands-on development, you will also be taking responsibility and coordinating the team's scrum master tasks and activities.

The main technologies we are using at Hiab are: AWS as the cloud platform, TypeScript/Node.js in the backend development but also Python in some applications, and React framework in the frontend development.

Although we expect you to work proactively and independently, you won’t be left alone as you will get to collaborate with your team members to design scalable, robust, and maintainable software architectures. Additionally, you will get to work in a cross-functional set-up as you will be working closely with different stakeholders to understand and clarify business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Good communication and collaboration as well as problem-solving skills are therefore essential as we analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve issues together.

Your main tasks and responsibilities in a nutshell:

• Designing, coding, and debugging software solutions that meet business requirements and adhere to coding standards

• Acting as a scrum master in the agile software development team

• Ensuring the quality of software products through testing, including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing

• Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring fast and reliable delivery of software

• Creating and maintaining technical documentation (including design documents, API documentation, and user guides).

In order to succeed in this role, you should have a strong understanding of backend development and cloud infrastructure as well as some understanding of frontend development. You should be able to communicate effectively when analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues together with other developers and stakeholders. Therefore, good collaboration and problem-solving skills as well as a “can-do” attitude are essential in this role.

The main skills and expertise we are looking for from our Senior Developer:

• A few years of hands-on experience with core AWS services (e.g. ECS, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, and VPC). 

• Experience from a scrum master role or tasks (or at the very least you should have an interest in taking on this role and developing your scrum master skills to the next level)

• Proficiency in TypeScript and Python. Experience with React (or other frontend web framework) skills would be great, but willingness to learn and work also on frontend is more important.

• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. AWS CloudFormation or Terraform (preferably CDK))

• Experience in designing, implementing, and optimising relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Amazon RDS)

• Understanding of testing methodologies, tools, and best practices (e.g. test automation with Robot Framework).

• Experience in IoT environment / platforms (Kinesis Data Streams, Timescale) is seen as a plus
